“I wish I could spend the whole day with you,” he said, his voice low and husky as he brushed my hair back, tucking it behind my ears. “I want to get to know you better, to understand what makes you tick. But I have duties to attend to.”

“Me too,” I said, feeling a lump form in my throat as I leaned into his touch. “I wish we could too, but we both have things to do.”

“I’ll see you at the evening meal.” He sighed, shooting his guards a hardened glare. “Make sure nothing happens to her.”

They both nodded in acknowledgment of his order.

He gave me one last kiss and then turned to leave. I watched him leave, feeling a mix of emotions. Part of me was sad to see him go, but another part of me was eager to execute my plan to help him with his harvest festival.

“Hey, Cykzo, is it possible for you to see if Sahka is available?”

The gray-scaled guard raised an eyebrow at his partner. “Should I be worried?”

“I’d be more concerned about the bite mark on her neck than why the princess wants to see your mate,” Asper remarked, bowing his head toward me. “I didn’t realize the prince was so bold in claiming you the first night you two were together, despite the fact that you’re two different species.”

“What happens between the two of us is not your concern,” I replied, not wanting to go into further detail about my relationship with their prince. With their sensitive tongues, they could probably taste the sex in the air from earlier. “I’d like to speak with the den’s head female about planning the harvest festival, so please give her word that I request her audience as soon as she’s available.”

“Understood,” Cykzo responded, bowing his head. “I will summon my mate right away. In the meantime, would you like to join your friends for breakfast? They only got their tray of food and drinks a few moments ago, before the prince and you emerged from the prince nest.”

“That sounds fantastic.” I gave him a broad grin. “Thank you very much!”

As the doors slid open, Nyra and Soleii were already sitting on their oversize cushions around their floor tables, sipping their morning drinks and nibbling on some colorful fruit.

“Good morning!” I said, sitting down across from them.

“Good morning!” they both chorused, pausing for a moment to look at me.

“What’s different about you?” Nyra asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.

“Yeah, you seem different,” Soleii added as she popped a small donut hole looking pastry into her mouth.

“Did anything happen between you and the prince?” Nyra asked, raising an eyebrow as she lifted her cup of hot tea to her mouth.

I blushed, my hand involuntarily going to my neck. I felt a sudden rush of emotions, and I wasn’t sure how to respond. “We just talked.”

Soleii raised an eyebrow. “Just talked?” she asked with a smirk.

“It was much more than just talking,” I said, trailing off. I didn’t want
